DR. LINDSEY MACLEOD

Dr. MacLeod provides assessment and treatment to adults and adolescents in rehabilitation, health, and clinical psychology. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa (2013) and her residency at The Ottawa Hospital and at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Queen’s University (2005). She has a special interest in treating trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as interpersonal and personality related problems. Although she works with individuals experiencing a variety of difficulties, much of her focus and specialization is helping first responders (i.e. RCMP, firefighters, police, paramedics),  veterans and active military members, public safety employees and their families  who have experienced operational and/or traumatic stress. Other areas of her clinical focus include workplace stress. In addition, she has experience treating individuals with a wide range of psychological, health and disability related issues, including: depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and grief, coping with acute and chronic medical problems, pain, health-anxiety and adjustment to illness/disability.

 

Dr. MacLeod has experience and training in a number of different evidence based psychotherapeutic approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), interpersonal, experiential, and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She is able to understand client issues from a variety of perspectives and believes in the importance of establishing a positive and safe therapeutic environment and works collaboratively with her clients to meet their needs. She works with an attitude of openness, respect and acceptance to engage with her client’s personal motivation to change.

 

In addition to direct clinical services, Dr. MacLeod offers supervision to psychologists completing supervised practice as well as consultative and supervision services to psychotherapists in the community. She continues her professional growth through attendance at workshops, conferences, and keeping current with the scientific and clinical literature.
